Do you love your figure? Maybe you catch sight of yourself in the mirror and smile at the reflection. You know, the way Fonzie did at the start of Happy Days. (Click here if you have no idea what I mean). If you're not happy with the way you look what are you doing about it? Do you know how to get your perfect body? Well, I'm about to tell you.
I had an interesting conversation with someone in the gym recently. This young girl (let's call her Amy) was commenting about how dissatisfied she is with her own body shape. She was listing the things she wants to improve. Tighter bum, flat tummy, better looking shoulders etc. Unfortunately for her, Amy didn't mention the only thing that will really give her the figure she wants. There's actually nothing wrong with her figure at all, she's in great shape. I'm sure there are plenty of young girls who envy what Amy has. But she is still unhappy. Why?
The one thing Amy didn't add to her lists of changes was to change the way she thinks. Satisfaction with her appearance won't come from changing her appearance. There's really nothing to change. The only way she will ever be satisfied is by changing the way she looks at herself and the world around her. No amount of compliments from other people will change that. She has to change it within herself.
How to get your perfect body
Contentment has to come from your mind. For total health and happiness you need to be able to move right, eat right and think right. All three things need to be in place a little like a tripod that holds up a camera. All three legs are as important as each other. Amy may be taking good care of the first two but without thinking right she will never be truly content.
Changing the way you think takes time and practice. But with the right techniques you can do it. Becoming content with everything around you comes from within. Some people can be happy with nothing yet others can have everything and still be unhappy.
I use many tools to help change the way I think. I am happy with my life, my circumstances and my body. I'm content. Sure, there are lots of things I don't have, I'm not wealthy and I don't have a six pack. But what I do have I'm proud of ... and that's the difference.
